Klāvs Čavars joins CB Gran Canaria
Latvian center Klāvs Čavars has signed long-term contract with Spanish basketball club CB Gran Canaria.
Klāvs will play for club’s second team and will have opportunity to prove himself for a spot in the ACB team. Although the young center had several offers from other Spanish clubs, as well as clubs from other countries, the main reason for choosing CB Gran Canaria was possibility to have individual practices.
Before joining CB Gran Canaria, Klāvs spent most of his career in BK Ventspils youth system, but had his first professional season in 2015/2016 while playing for Liepāja/Triobet in Latvia, which he helped to reach Latvian league semi-finals. In 2016 he was awarded with the Most Improved Player award in the Latvian Basketball League. Klāvs has also been regularly playing for Latvian youth National Teams and in 2016 he finished sixth with the Latvian U-20 National team in the European championship.
