Uvis Helmanis to coach Liepāja/Triobet
Latvian basketball coach Uvis Helmanis has decided to leave Latvian champions “VEF Rīga” in order to pursue his career as the head coach of another Latvian club “Liepāja/Triobet”.
For the last two seasons Uvis Helmanis was the assistant coach of Ramunas Butautas in “VEF Rīga”, but his contract expired after this season and he decided to accept new challenge as the head coach of “Liepāja/Triobet”. His work with the Latvian champions was highly evaluated by Edgars Jaunups, the “VEF Rīga” chairman of the advisory council, who thanked Uvis for his involvement with the club, professional attitude and mutual cooperation and also wished all the best with his new challenge, where he will be able to use his experience and knowledge gained during these two seasons with the Latvian champions.
Uvis Helmanis was also grateful for possibility to work with Ramunas Butautas, experienced and professional coach. Uvis thanks all the team and management of “VEF Rīga” and believes that this experience will inspire him throughout his future career.
Director of “Liepāja/Triobet” is very glad that Uvis Helmanis will join his club. He considers Uvis as a very talented coach and is a fantastic choice to rebuild the team, which will be will be based on the local-grown players as well as some outside players, where needed.
